Kentucky Derby Festival is not say where the massive annual fireworks show will take place, they only say it will be “citywide. They have made it clear that there is “no reason to get your boats out and go out on the Ohio River”.

In an online news conference, KDF President and CEO Matt Gibson said that Thunder Over Louisville will take place on Saturday, April 17, but without the crowds.
Gibson said that there will still be airplanes and fireworks, however there will be no gathering at the waterfront. As a matter of fact Thunder will not be held at the waterfront at all.

Gibson added that the program will include live components, as well as televised components. Civilian and military aircraft will perform however we just do not know where because it is being created for television view not live crowds.
